High-Level Delegation from Nine Caribbean Countries Visits Shandong

From August 14 to 15, a delegation of Permanent Secretaries and senior representatives from the foreign ministries of nine Caribbean countries visited Shandong Province.

On the evening of August 14, Vice Governor Song Junji met with the delegation in Jinan.

Song Junji extended a warm welcome to the guests and introduced Shandong’s economic and social development. He emphasized that Shandong highly values exchanges and cooperation with Caribbean nations, noting the growing bilateral ties, strengthened cultural and educational exchanges, and expanding practical collaboration.

Looking ahead, she expressed hope to leverage the China-Caribbean Development Center (CCDC) as a key platform to:

– Deepen friendly exchanges,

– Promote mutual learning in broader fields,

– Expand higher-level economic and trade cooperation,

– Build closer partnerships, and

– Achieve greater mutual benefits.

Hutchinson, Permanent Secretary of Grenada’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, praised Shandong’s development achievements and highlighted the strong foundation of cooperation between Shandong and the Caribbean. He expressed a desire to enhance collaboration in trade, investment, green development, and infrastructure, as well as strengthen people-to-people exchanges and subnational ties.

During their stay, the delegation also:

– Attended the CCDC’s 3rd Anniversary Exchange Event,

– Visited Shandong Heavy Industry Group.

Accompanying officials included:

Tian Qi, Ambassador of the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs,

Chen Baiwei, Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office of Shandong Provincial Committee & President of the Shandong People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries,

Sun Yebao, Deputy Director-General and First-Level Inspector of the Foreign Affairs Office,

Representatives from Jinan Municipal Government, provincial departments, and universities.

St. George’s, Grenada – October 26, 2023: Grenada is set to kickstart its highly anticipated 50th Anniversary of Independence Celebrations with flair and finesse on Tuesday 31 October 2023. The celebration of this significant milestone in the nation’s history will be officially launched by Prime Minister, Honourable Dickon Mitchell on the picturesque Carenage in the heart of St. George’s. Chairperson of the National Organising Committee, Dr. Wendy Crawford, will provide an overview of the Committee’s mandate and plans to mark this historic event.
